Brixham Future CIC has confirmed final arrangements for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. The full range of publications including the main brochure of the events and programmes for specific occasions will be released at the “not-for-profit” company Public Annual General Meeting to be held at the Brixham Conservative Club in New Road on 28th March at 2pm .
The spokesperson for the organisation said:
“We are delighted to confirm the Parade on Thursday 6th June in the town from the `Man and Boy` statue at 1030am on the Southern Quay to the Breakwater Beach for our 11am Commemoration Service, the community sing-a-long at 12 noon followed by a special tribute from Scottish Pipers. We will also have our own fantastic Brixham Town Band and the Brixham Orpheus Male Voice Choir to support this historic event. The church bells in Brixham will also ring out in tribute at 630pm that same day as they will across the country to mark the event. “
We can also announce that the Brixham Museum will hold a special exhibition every day during the festivities. There will be a display of WW2 Models in the Conservative Club Sat and Sunday. The Brixham Battery will be also holding a special one-day event on Sunday 9th June between 11am and 4pm at Fishcombe Hill, Brixham, TQ5 8RU.

“We have already booked several musical events including 230pm -330pm Concerts on the Friday 7th and Sat 8th June in the Methodist and Baptist Churches which we are looking forward to.
We also have a major musical event on Sunday 9th June in the Prince William Square, on Southern Quay from 12 pm including Torbay Brass Band at 2pm.
We are committed to delivering small-scale, quick-win, low-cost events that enhance the town, highlighting our cultural heritage for both residents and visitors to enjoy. The basic idea is that by enhancing Brixham`s Culture offer from its rich history; we boost our community.
A spokesperson for Brixham Future CIC added,
“Our thanks must be extended to everyone involved. Most of our local voluntary sector groups who are contributing their time and effort voluntarily to mark this special occasion. The more funding we raise the more everyone can do.

Two FREE opportunities to hear songs by famous local group `MISSIN` TACKLE SHANTY CREW` at the `Vigilance` on Saturday 6th June D-Day 930am and in Prince William Sq- Southern Quay.
Two FREE opportunities to enjoy a sing-along on Fri 7th June 230pm -330pm with SANDY SPARKLE -Prince William Sq and again on Sat 8th June 230pm-330pm in the Baptist Church Concert of 1940`s favourite.
Two FREE opportunities to hear our fabulous Brixham Town Band at the 11am D-Day 6th June Parade and Commemoration Service at Breakwater Beach and again at St. Mary`s Church Service 7pm on Sunday 9th June 2024.

Two FREE opportunities to hear the fabulous `Leandre Duo`
who will be performing at Shoalstone Green (above the Pool) on Wednesday 5th June at 8 to 9pm and again 230-330pm on Friday 7th June 2024 in Concert at the Methodist Church in Fore St.
On Sunday 9th June, the Torbay Brass Band will perform at 2pm in Prince William Sq followed by Mike Harding at 3pm

There will be a special WW2 Brixham Battery 1940`s event on Sunday 9th June 11am -4pm marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day with vehicles, re-enactors and displays for everyone.
The Brixham Battery Heritage Centre is located on Fishcombe Hill, Brixham, TQ5 8RU. It can be reached by walking along the coastal path and through Battery Gardens. The museum is an English Heritage scheduled Monument and is packed with WW1 AND WW2 ARTIFACTS, MEMORABILIA, WEAPONS, and UNIFORMS with something for all generations to enjoy.
There will be a 1940`s Quiz will be held in the Brixham Yacht Club, Overgang Rd on Weds 5th June from 730pm ( Entry £3) with several prizes to be won. So why not form your own team and come and test your knowledge of the 1940`s and wider general knowledge!
There will be a community D-Day party on Shoalstone Green 7pm -11pm on Weds 5th June with Free music and entertainment. An evening’s entertainment will be delivered to mark our D-Day events in the outdoor location overlooking Shoalstone Pool and the Breakwater.
There will be a Free `Run Ashore` event 7pm -11pm with entertainment on Thursday 6th June in the Conservative Club. If you have any navy or merchant connections this is the opportunity to meet your sea-faring friends and bring family, friends and other services to this special event.
There will be 2 Free major WW2 classic films in the Conservative Club 2PM -5PM on Thursday 6th June and Friday 7th June. Enjoy an afternoon of 2 very realistic films depicting D-Day Events. Day? The first film is `The Longest Day` Which details events hour by hour from historical material. The second film is `Saving Private Ryan` which tells the tale of one unit’s attempt to find and save one remaining son for a mother who lost 2 sons in the WW2 conflict.
There will be 2 days to view a unique collection of WW2 model boats on Sat and Sunday 8th and 9th June in the Conservative Club from 1030am -4pm. A rare opportunity to enjoy viewing this unique collection and talk to the model makers.
